STITCHBUSINESS is continuing to enrol students on City & Guilds courses until June 2017, and we will continue to teach the seven City & Guilds courses listed here until June 2020. After June 2017 we will no longer be able to enrol students for these accredited courses as City & Guilds is ceasing to offer them, so hurry up and enrol whilst you still have the chance! News of alternative courses on offer at STITCHBUSINESS will be announced soon.
We currently offer the following City & Guilds courses for 'on site' and 'distance learner' students, and current City & Guilds students who wish to transfer from another centre:
Course content is the same for on site and distance learner students, and all new students pay the same course fees. Fees for transferring students are assessed on a case by case basis, and are dependent on previously completed and assessed work.
All course materials are downloadable from our members' area for both on site and distance learning students, so it is essential that you have an email address and access to a computer before applying for one of our courses.
These students will regularly attend classes and have face to face tutorials in our studios in Durham and access our course learning materials via the members' area of our website. STITCHBUSINESS accepts applications from new on site students throughout the year. Start dates for Level 1 courses are variable, but Level 2 and Level 3 courses mostly start in September. (Students transferring from another centre may need to start mid-term, depending on individual City & Guilds registration expiry dates.)
These students will access our course learning materials via the members' area of our website, and have regular email tutorials. We also offer three Distance Learner weekends a year, giving distance learners the opportunity, if possible, to come to Durham and work in our studios, meet other distance learners from many different locations, and have face to face tutorials. Most assessment is conducted via emails, with submission of work uploaded for regular feedback, in online albums. Distance learners may also need to send work to us through the post for assessment when requested (the costs for sending work to and from STITCHBUSINESS will be borne by the student.)
We accept applications from new distance learners throughout the year. Upon a successful application, start dates are variable for Level 1 courses, but all Level 2 and Level 3 courses, start in September.
Students transferring from another centre may need to start mid-term, depending on individual City & Guilds registration expiry dates.
Students transferring from another centre will need to go through the same application process as all STITCHBUSINESS students. In your application please state your City & Guilds number and the number of your current centre. Applications are accepted throughout the year, and, upon a successful application, you are able to join our programme at a mutually agreeable time.
